Description from the seller
Rare cut crystal salt vase with a handcrafted silver fish tail handle featuring a mermaid.
Attached is a 19th-century Dutch silver salt spoon with a torted handle (thus, two objects).
The salt vat is particularly beautiful in shape and is decorated all around with a finely cut pattern.
The crystal salt container is manually equipped with a stunning, highly detailed silver handle shaped like a fish tail, with a mermaid on top.
The silver handle is certified and marked with the content mark 800, indicating a silver content of 800/1000, and the master mark of the silversmith who made the handle and the mermaid (see photos).
The salt spoon is certified in the Netherlands and marked with Dutch silver hallmarks, featuring the old sword type hallmark.
This hallmark was struck in the 19th century as a quality mark on small silver works of both first and second quality silver.
This sign was used from 1813 until January 1, 1906.
Also marked with the master mark 2TU from the Dutch silversmith who made the spoon (see photos).
A large salt vat with a width of 7.5 cm and a height of 7.4 cm.
The whole thing is also quite heavy, weighing 78.5 grams (measured with a teaspoon).
The small spoon is 6.3 cm long and fits perfectly in the salt container.
The salt cellar has probably not been used at all or only minimally, as both the silver handle and the crystal are in an exceptional, rarely beautiful, and perfect condition.
The silver salt spoon is also in very good condition for its age of at least one year.
This beautiful rare salt vat with a silver salt spoon is a striking and particularly decorative object due to its elegant shape, its large size, and the stunning silver mount with a fish tail and mermaid.
It has an extremely chic appearance and is a jewel on your table.
Also fun and very suitable to use.
Will be carefully packaged and shipped insured.
