Original French two-part enamelled metal directional panel reading “Déviation”, dating to the 1950s–1960s, made in France, dimensions 30 x 125 cm, yellow with dark blue lettering, condition: used with probable small enamel losses.
Description from the seller
Magnificent and rare original French enameled road sign from the 1950s, bearing the inscription 'Déviation'. It is a large directional arrow made of thick enameled sheet metal (30 x 125 cm), used at the time to indicate temporary detours in case of roadworks or obstacles on the roadway.
The panel consists of two parts firmly assembled, with a distinctive arrow shape, enameled in a vivid yellow with dark blue edges and lettering, typical of post-war French signage. The enamel, still bright and luminous, testifies to the high manufacturing quality of the period, probably made by renowned companies such as Japy, Email Réclame, or Bourgey Montreuil.
Signs of age are visible: missing enamel on the letter 'é' and in the upper right corner, along with some traces of wear, which however do not compromise readability or the overall charm of the piece. The rear metal supports are still present, confirming its original use on poles or mobile structures. This panel remains very solid and visually striking, making it perfect for a collection, industrial decor, a loft, or even for film sets.
Authentic object, not a reproduction. Very difficult to find in these conditions, with colors still so vivid.
