Considered the 'Cadillac of all Cadillacs,' the Brougham edition of the Eldorado was perhaps the most striking and memorable design ever produced by General Motors.

The Eldorado was started in 1953 as a car with a special bodywork, intended as a low-production model of the El Dorado 'Golden Anniversary' concept car from 1952.

The Eldorado derives its name from the legendary 'city of wealth' that inspired many European explorers, would have a golden nameplate, and would be a limited edition closed cabriolet that belonged to the top class of Cadillac.

The world was introduced to one of the most memorable designs ever produced by GM at the 1956 Motorama, styled by Ed Glowacke, head designer of Cadillac, with the help of Bob Scheelk.

This 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Town Car Concept XP 48 would become known as the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.
