It was a prototype model on the way to the creation of the Ferrari Dino, which often caused confusion between the two models.

The Fiat Dino had to ensure that Ferrari produced the necessary production numbers in order to be allowed to race.

At the Turin Auto Show in 1966, the Fiat Dino Coupe was shown for the first time. The name 'Dino' is a tribute to Alfredo Ferrari, the son of Ferrari, who died at the age of 24.

Almost 5,800 Fiat Dino coupés have been built.
