Description from the seller
Marine Chronometer – GUB Glashütte (VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe) – 1945 – Roman Numerals – ½ Second Subdial – Matching Numbers (3788) NEW OLD STOCK,
For sale is a highly collectible mechanical marine chronometer produced in 1945 in Glashütte, Saxony, by the newly established VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB).
This chronometer directly continues the legacy of the famous Einheitschronometer developed by A. Lange & Söhne during WWII. The year 1945 marks the transition from wartime production to early post-war models, making this example a historically important piece from a very short production period.

Early 1945 production – immediate post-war period
By GUB Glashütte (VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe)
Rare Roman numeral dial (most had Arabic numerals)
½-second jumping seconds subdial at 6 o’clock – for precise navigation
Power reserve: 56 hours
High-precision German mechanical movement
Original wooden gimbal box with glass lid
Matching serial numbers on dial, movement, and box: 3788
Chronometers from this transitional period are far scarcer than both wartime A. Lange & Söhne models and later Soviet versions, making this a highly desirable collector’s item.
