Two large uncoloured copperplate engravings from Italy, Casalpusterlengo to Alessandria, 497 × 790 mm each, titled Vue du Bourg de Casal-Pusterlengo and Vue de la Ville et Citadelle d’Alexandrie, engraved by Friedrich Schroeder and Pierre Sonnerat for Bagetti and the Depot de la Guerre, in excellent condition with sharp, detailed lines.
Description from the seller
The engravings are plates XXVIII and XXXII taken from the work 'Vue des Champs de bataille de Napoleon en Italie dans les années 1796, 1797 et 1800 – drawn on site by Mr. Bagetti, captain engineer-geographer – engraved and completed at the Depot of War – Paris 1835.'
The plates are part of a series of large-format engravings created by numerous skilled engravers, based on drawings and sketches by Giuseppe Bagetti, depicting cities, villages, and battlefields that served as the theater of military operations during the Italian Campaigns under Napoleon Bonaparte's command.

Superb perspectival view depicting the village of Casalpusterlengo with the entry of the French troops of General Bonaparte, engraved in copper by Friederich Schroeder and printed on sturdy paper. In the lower left, the draughtsman; on the right, the engraver; and below, in the center, the title of the work. The verso is blank with wide margins; tears at the bottom, left, and right margins have been repaired with acid-free paper. There are traces of printing on the front and slight superficial dirt on the back. Dimensions: 497x790 mm. (sheet 720x1020 mm.)
