Rare C.M. Bergen plateel tobacco pot from the Netherlands, circa 1920–1930, hand‑painted earthenware with a floral decoration under a glossy crackle glaze, height 16.5 cm, diameter 14 cm, signed on bottom 'C.M. Bergen' (model 755), in good condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Rare and atmospheric porcelain tobacco jar by C.M. Bergen, made in the Netherlands around 1920–1930. A beautiful example of early 20th-century Dutch porcelain, where craftsmanship and expressive glazing technique come together.
The pot is made of fine earthenware and richly hand-painted with a floral decoration in vivid shades of blue, purple, green, and ochre, under a glossy crackle glaze. The characteristic, somewhat flowing lines and color transitions give the piece an almost impressionistic appearance, typical of the Bergen-plateelstijl.
The lid is decorated with matching motifs and forms a harmonious whole with the pot. The inside of the lid has a small chip (see photos), otherwise it is in a particularly beautiful and original condition.
Clearly signed at the bottom 'C.M. Bergen', with model number 755 and decor code.
A refined and rare collectible for enthusiasts of Dutch porcelain, Art Deco ceramics, and early 20th-century design.
