Qur'an - for the Nawab Amiu Khau, an Arabic-language manuscript page from 1727, a single folio in very good condition, measuring 20.5 × 13.5 cm, written for the Kashmiri Nawab Amiu Khau.
Description from the seller
A highly decorative and rare manuscript page from a damaged and incomplete Koran, scribed for the Kashmiri Nawab (sovereign ruler) Amiu Khau in 1727. As a Royal work it is of the highest quality.
The folio is scribed in bold 'nashki' black ink on thin paper and contains scripture from the Medinian chapter 50, v.4-9, which discuss the omnipotence of God, the resurrection, and the signs of creation in the heavens and the earth. They explain that God is aware of everything the earth consumes from their bodies, and He has a record preserving everything, making resurrection possible. Their denial of the truth of resurrection has led them to confusion. The text points to the sky, earth, mountains, and diverse vegetation as signs of God's creative power and ability to resurrect. These natural signs are meant to be observed by those open to the truth. The verse also mentions blessed water sent from the heaven to grow gardens and harvest-grain, highlighting the process of revival in nature as a parallel to resurrection.
Complex aya in gold and the shape of a flower mark the individual verses. Puts the main scripture is a wonderfully ornate margin profuse in gold and arabesque deciration of the finest quality.
