The artist Bernd Lieven photographs gardens, industrial sites marked by time and reclaimed by nature. He originally develops subjects on a canvas coated with photo emulsion, which through overpainting with a subjective color nuance creates a new reality.
In the series of concert shells/churches, he explores the different architectural representations of the buildings. The church, built between 1968 and 1969 according to plans and designs by sculptor Josef Rikus and architect Heinz Buchmann, is characterized by its brutalist architecture.
