Description from the seller
This is a very special artists' book by the German artist Hans-Peter Feldmann (1941-2023), which is currently (until January 11, 2026) being honored with an impressive overview exhibition at the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf. The book documents more than a hundred people (including students, activists, and terrorists) who died in Germany due to violence between 1967 and 1993. Internationally, the notorious Baader-Meinhof group (also known as the Rote Armee Fraktion) gained particular notoriety. The founders, Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof, also feature in this book. However, the first victim was student Benno Ohnesorg, who was shot dead during a demonstration in Berlin. During this period, violence escalated. Those who later become aware of the increasing violence in German society through this artists' book are often shocked. Most of the victims, whose names are listed not only under the photos but also with brief biographical information at the back of the book, were in their twenties.
The 95 black-and-white photos that Hans-Peter Feldmann used for this artist's book (included in many museum collections) were sourced from newspapers and magazines, among other sources. There is a slight bend at the top left corner of the front cover, but otherwise, this historic artist's book (printed by the artist's publisher) is in very good condition.
Due to the consequences of the US president's policy on shipping valuable books to America, this book cannot be shipped to America.
