Description from the seller
Sonneclair Evolution – a symbol of 1950s French design!
A name that says everything: Evolution.
In 1951, when design was beginning to dream of the future, this extraordinary Sonneclair radio was born, a masterpiece of French ingenuity and style.
Its structure combines matte brown metal and glossy brown bakelite, embellished with cream-colored edges that highlight its modern and bold lines.
A stunning aesthetic for its time, designed to impress: innovative design, a swiveling speaker, and — a unique detail — the ability to be wall-mounted.
A radio that didn't just want to play, but to redefine the concept of form and functionality.
Today is an absolute rarity, a collectible piece that embodies the vision and elegance of early 1950s design.
Sonneclair Evolution – when the future had already taken shape.
Radio technical specifications
• Brand: Sonneclair
• Model: Evolution
Produced in: France
Year of construction: 1951
Dimensions (LxWxH): 37 x 21 x 37 cm
Wave range: Medium waves (OM), long waves (OL), and 2 short waves (2 x OC).
• Operating tensions: 115; 125; 145; 220; 245 Volt
Object of vintage and collectible value. This is a historic asset, without warranty, intended for collectors. Please carefully review the description and images before purchasing.
Note well: The radio turns on and has been recently serviced, as evidenced by the interior photos. It was not possible to test station reception, as in Italy, shortwave, medium wave, and longwave broadcasts have been discontinued. The side controls via levers need to be calibrated. The knob that allows adjusting the speaker's tilt does not grip well; this issue can be resolved by replacing it with a standard nut. We have preferred to leave the original knob in place.
