FORM
Carved with a chainsaw from a single piece of solid Acacia Wood*, hand finished. Tanned with fire (yakisugi**), stained with a natural 'rich black' stain, and waxed with natural wax.
WOOD
* (Acacia is a long-lasting material that does not rot when exposed to rain.
It will look good both indoors and outdoors.
Method
Yakisugi (charred cedar) is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. By slightly charring the surface of the wood without burning the entire piece, the wood becomes waterproof through carbonization and is therefore more durable. It also protects against insects and makes the wood fire-resistant.
