Originally from Vercelli, Troiano grew up in Naples where he began by drawing caricatures for sports magazines. In 1995, he placed second in the National Debut Comic Artists Competition in Prato, gaining recognition from both the public and critics. One of his stories appeared in the prestigious American magazine Metal Hurlant. In 2000, he published – with texts by Riccardo Bruno – Berlino 1999 for Eidos Editore and created various books for the publishing house L’Isola dei Ragazzi. Since 2004, he has started collaborating with the publishing house Albatros, which published the volumes Korea 2145 (2005), Lufer (2006), and Eracle 91 (2007), stories that blend science fiction and fantasy. In 2005, he won the award for Revelation Artist of the Year with Korea 2145 at the 'Carlo Boscarato' Award in Treviso.
