Domaine Pierre Gonon, located in Mauves in the Ardèche region, is an 11-hectare family estate in the Saint-Joseph AOC. The Gonon brothers represent the fourth generation and have become a leading name in Saint-Joseph wines. At the beginning of the 20th century, Pierre Gonon, a farmer who practiced mixed farming, cultivated vines among other fruits and vegetables. When his son Emile did not wish to take over the estate, the vines gradually declined until his descendant, Pierre Gonon, only 15 years old in the 1950s, decided to dedicate himself to winemaking, replanting, cultivating, and vinifying wines that he then sold to négociants (the first bottling dates back to the 1960s – a significant event at the time). From 1988 onwards, Pierre's sons, Pierre and Jean, also joined the family estate. From 1990 onwards, they drastically changed their working methods: soil cultivation, certification, cover cropping... Organic certification arrived in 2010. Today, this estate is part of the elite of the region and even of French viticulture.
