The LOCK coffee table is designed based on the qualities, possibilities, and properties of the material: bamboo.
The frame is handcrafted from pressed layers of flexible bamboo.
The shape is formed by the natural bending of the bamboo. The layers of bamboo bend and intertwine with each other, holding each other in place.
This 'layercake' emphasizes the curves, flowing lines, and shape of the table. The end result is a mix of nature and mathematics, a strong dynamic form that looks different from various perspectives. A contemporary coffee table design and a tribute to Midcentury design.
The bamboo is heated and caramelized, resulting in a beautiful caramel color.
Bamboe
A strong, highly durable, flexible, beautiful, and renewable material. Bamboo grows without artificial fertilizers. The bamboo tree is mature enough to be harvested after three years. The trees are processed into the most environmentally friendly wood in the world.
