Graf Zeppelin, a 1931 memorabilia item of Russian origin, in Good condition, hand signed and autographed by Albert Sammt and Hans von Schiller.
Description from the seller
Luftschiff Graf Zeppelin Polarfahrt 1931. Card and letter with Russian stamps. Send from the Russian icebreaker Malyguin via LZ127 to Berlin. In 1931 the zeppelin made an scientific expedition to the polar region including mapping of Artic areas, metereological observations and measuring variations in the earth's magnetic field. On board were American, German, Russian and Swedish scientists. The polar expedition was largely financed with the revenue from stamp collectors. The airship left Friedrichshafen on July 24, 1931 and went via Berlin, Leningrad to Franz-Josef Land. In the afternoon of July 27 they landed on the water to exchange mail with the Soviet icebreaker Malyguin. The airship arrived back in Friedrichshafen on July 31.
The letter is signed by the airshipcaptains Albert Sammt and Hans von Schiller.
Albert Sammt was first officer on board during the Hindenburg disaster. He was seriously injured but survived.
