Description from the seller

Exceptional and rare faience shell-shaped object from Rubelles – mid-19th century marked ADT

Superb faience bénitier from Rubelles, created between 1836 and 1858 by Alexis du Tremblay, inventor of ombrant or lithophanic enamels (marked with the embossed ADT, patent).
It is a refined and authentic piece dating from the mid-19th century. It features a magnificent scene of Christ on the cross, typical of religious productions from that era. Emerald green color with dazzling reflections.

Features :
Height: 22 cm
• Tone: brilliant emerald green
Width: 11 cm
Material: Faience with ombrant enamels.
Period: Mid-19th century
• Brand / stamp: embossed stamp A.D.T. – Invention Patent
Authenticity: 100% guarantee

Despite its age, the item is generally in very good condition. However, a small chip should be noted, discreet and without any real aesthetic impact, neither diminishing its charm nor its authenticity (see photo).
It is a very rare piece, sought after by collectors of religious faience and enthusiasts of ancient sacred objects.
