Description from the seller

Superb fully illuminated and calligraphed Catholic altar canon on vellum, signed Ruyneau Fontaine, 1890.

Exceptionally rich work: historiated initials, gold highlights, vegetal framing, religious scenes (Christ and the Sacred Heart banner).

In the center, a very beautiful miniature of Christ, surrounded by two columns of illuminated text.

Very rare quality of decoration, worthy of the monastic workshops of the late 19th century.

Dimensions
32 × 51 cm visible

Old, original framing with a sculpted pediment (visible damages).

Two of the work
Red velvet background embroidered with Dominican coats of arms, vintage textile piece, highly sought after.
