The artist Bernd Lieven photographs gardens, industrial sites marked by time and reclaimed by nature. He originally develops subjects on a canvas coated with photo emulsion, which through overpainting with a subjective color nuance creates a new reality.

In the series of concert shells, he explores the various architectural representations of structures designed for outdoor musical performances. The stages without musicians, filmed in parks and spa towns, are presented to the audience in their openness and protected form, reduced in black and white images. The similarity to the original shell shape of the respective architects is freely interpretable in the depiction.
