Common Sense, signed by Martin Parr, is the 1st edition hardcover published by Dewi Lewis Publishing, 152 pages in English, 30 × 21 cm, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Rare example of the vintage original edition of Common Sense signed on the title page by Martin Parr (1952-2025). 152 pages and as many full-page color photographs published on the lost edge. Even the endpapers are illustrated with photographs, and there is no title page; the title appears only on the cover and the edition details are on the back cover. No text either, as the images speak for themselves. Hardcover illustrated binding on the cover. Very good vintage condition.
Common Sense, shot between 1995 and 1999, is printed on laser photocopies. Taken with ultra-saturated 35 mm film, the 350 images are disgusting—and hilarious—close-ups of a disposable, globalized culture dominated by colorful junk food, heavily made-up women, eye-catching sexualization, disguised dogs, and banknotes held up like sacred images. Simultaneously exhibited in 41 venues across 17 countries, this popular work even earned a mention in the Guinness World Records.
Book in very good overall condition with very slight signs of use, but the publisher chose a fairly heavy paper for printing, which slightly affects the binding, probably to make the book also appear as a consumer product, even though it usually produces very sturdy bound books like Small World. This is from my personal collection, kept with the utmost care. Shipping is protected with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international tracking. For multiple purchases, grouped shipping is possible, with a refund of any excess postal fees paid via PayPal.
