Artist Hergé; Na Pista de Tim-Tim, O Papagaio (Portugal, 1946); 6 items of O Papagaio featuring the Na Pista de Tim-Tim strip, each 24 cm by 31 cm, in reasonable condition.
Description from the seller
At first glance, the comic strip ‘Na Pista de Tim-Tim’ does not amount to much. No nice drawings!
But the strip will indeed hold an important place in the work about Hergé and Tintin.
In short, it is – as far as we know – the first time that a comic artist has created a 'pastiche' of a Tintin story.
At the beginning of the story, there seems to be another character who plays the main role: a guy named Nic-Bob and his monkey Koko (based on Jocko?). This Nic-Bob is searching for Tim-Tim and Rom-Rom (the name of Bobbie / Milou in O Papagaio). Tim-Tim has been kidnapped and imprisoned.
At the end of the story, two detectives also appear: Dumond and Dumond!
The strip was published in 1946 in O Papagaio, at a time when the former editor-in-chief, Adolfo Simoes Müller, had moved to a competing magazine and the new editor-in-chief had not yet signed a contract with Hergé. Therefore, a temporary gap needed to be filled, and this strip was used for that purpose.
In this lot, you will find five copies of O Papagaio with the comic strip Na Pista de Tim-Tim.
Status: reasonable, but one magazine has a piece cut from the cover, which does not affect the story about Tim-Tim.
The comic strip was drawn by José Rodrigues Neves. Below is some information about him:
José Rodrigues Neves
Born in 1921, died in 1983.
He was also an architect and painter, besides his work in comics/illustration.
He worked from 1941 to around 1948 for well-known Portuguese comic magazines of that time, such as Diabrete, O Faísca, and O Papagaio.
His contribution is recognized in the history of Portuguese comics: he is mentioned in works about the '9th Art' in Portugal.
Note: number 1 of the legendary comic magazine O PAPAGAIO has been added.
The lot will be carefully packaged, insured and shipped with Track & Trace.
