Description from the seller

Very old (1924) beautiful Badik or Badek by the bugis of southern Sulawesi Indonesia. A full functional knife is this knife the main weapon in Bugis and Mangkasara styles of pencak silat. The nice details and decorations on shaft saying the year 1924 and the initials "MTP" (most likely gift to dutch person)and handle can only been made by a high qualified craftman. The pamor is really strong and shows its age. The image of pamor Rambut is like straight hanging hair and it is nearly pamor Adeg or Adeg Rambut. The difference is that the lines are interrupted. The magical strength of pamor rambut sinore is repelling all kinds of undesirable things like epidemics, fire, storm, floods, wild and toxic animals, manifestations etc.

Beautiful rare item not often seen, true collector’s item! Although this piece shows signs of use it has fantastic rich decoration. The patina, which indicates its considerable age, combined with its elegant design, makes it an ethnographic object of great interest.

The dimensions are 33x8x4cm. Length of blade 21cm. Beautiful rare item not often seen, true collectors item!
