Agne Kucerenkaite designed the Stone Waste is Bliss Vase for Ignorance is Bliss, a 2025 Dutch design stoneware vase, 31 cm high with a 14 cm diameter, in brown/grey/beige, limited edition, handcrafted with embedded granite and delivered as shown.
Description from the seller
Stone Waste is Bliss Vase - Limited Edition
This hand-crafted stoneware vase is part of an experimental series exploring the use of natural stone waste in ceramics. Dark granite offcuts are embedded directly into the clay body; during high-temperature firing, the iron contained within the granite melts and migrates, forming subtle vertical streaks and organic crystalline marks inside the transparent glaze. These natural reactions create a surface that cannot be replicated, making each piece unique. The vase was cast in a cylindrical mould and fired upright, allowing gravity to influence the iron flow. A contemporary object with a raw, geological character.
Due to the natural shrinkage differences between clay and embedded granite, small rim splits can occur during the firing process. This vase contains two such splits, both fully sealed within the glaze; they are not defects but inherent results of the technique and material behaviour. The embedded stones also create slightly raised areas on the inner surface, another normal and intentional characteristic of this method, adding a tactile, playful quality to the piece. The vase is large in scale, measuring approximately 31 cm in height, 14 cm in diameter, and weighing around 1.5 kg, making it ideal for long or voluminous flower arrangements. The item will be delivered exactly as shown in the photographs.
