Description from the seller

A well-preserved bronze signet ring dating to the Crusader era, featuring a broad circular bezel engraved with a distinct vegetal motif. The design consists of two diagonal leaf fronds with finely incised ribbing, accompanied by small dotted elements filling the field. The engraving is executed in low relief and remains clearly visible, characteristic of personal seals used in the Latin Kingdom of the Levant.

The ring is cast in one piece, with stepped shoulders rising to support the elevated bezel. The shank shows light deformation from age, while the surface displays an attractive deep green patina with areas of earthen deposits. These features attest to long-term burial and excellent archaeological authenticity.

Such rings were commonly worn by Crusader settlers, pilgrims, and soldiers, serving both as personal adornment and as a simple seal for marking wax. The vegetal motif suggests a non-heraldic, personal symbol rather than noble armorial use, reflecting the blending of Western European and local Levantine artistic influences.

Condition: Very good condition for age. Wear consistent with archaeological recovery. Clear bezel engraving, intact shank, stable patina.
Material: Bronze
Date: 12th–13th century CE
Origin: Crusader Levant
Dimensions: 23mm
