AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

PEWTER SPOONS

Pewter spoons have been made for hundreds of years. From the 1400s to the late 1700s, silver was too expensive for most people, so pewter was used as a substitute.

By the early 1800s, pewter was no longer used for spoons as other cheaper metals became available.

Pewter is a gray metal which is now an alloy of copper and antimony; however, the older pewter spoons were made from tin and lead.
