Description from the seller
The image shows a collection of Italian occupation stamps from the early to mid-20th century, specifically from the regions of Trentino, Trieste, and Venice. Fiume, Trento, and Trieste (1919): Many of the stamps, including the large ones marked as 'SEGNATASSE' (postage to be paid) with values in 'centesimi di corona' (cents of the crown), belong to the Italian issue for the Austro-Hungarian territories occupied after World War I. These original Austrian stamps were overprinted with the new Italian currency denominations for temporary use in these liberated areas.
Venezia Giulia (AMG VG): More modern stamps carry the overprint 'AMG VG,' which stands for 'Allied Military Government – Venezia Giulia.' These were used in the Venezia Giulia region (mainly Trieste and its surroundings) under temporary Allied military administration after World War II, around 1945-1946.
Miscellaneous Stamps: The collection also includes other standard Italian stamps from various periods, such as those from 'Poste Italiane' featuring the effigy of King Victor Emmanuel III and possibly stamps from Fiume. In summary, the collection covers a significant period of Italian postal history and post-war developments, focusing on territorial changes and temporary administrations in northeastern Italy and the Adriatic.
