Description from the seller
A splendid and important pair of bronze altar palm holders from the 1700s, large in size.
They are very imposing due to their size; in fact, the ones usually available on the market are small, about 19 cm tall. These are 34 cm tall and made of bronze, wood, and copper, once silver-plated but worn over time.
Rare to find similar pairs because in the market you see those in bronze, but those made from three materials are a rarity and true antique objects.
A square base is presented, with the four sides of the perimeter slightly convex.
The base measures 12 cm by 12 cm, with the angles extending by 1 cm, and these extensions serve as the base.
Here, the palm tree holder stands with the back made of solid wood, while the front is in red copper.
So, the copper part is only half.
The base has a skillfully chiseled conical shape. From here, the central neck rises, also chiseled with leaves that make it a true antique piece. At the top, a ring of oval circles is present, then it continues with the same decorative motifs at the end.
The two handles, 20 cm high, are important; the first part is formed by a convex line, followed by another that reaches down to the base.
Photos are more illustrative than words in describing the uniqueness and importance of porta palme.
It was part of the sacred furnishings of the family palace chapel, and having inherited many, I am selling quite a few of them.
My ancestors had a great taste and care for the furnishings of the home and loved to renew them; therefore, I inherited many similar objects.
This tradition has also continued with my parents, thinking about a future division between me and my brother, as it has been.
Generally, all my belongings are well preserved since they have always been kept at home.
Given their beauty, I left these items with the patina that has developed over time, also because bronze darkens if solvents are not used, whereas in these cases, the bronze has remained in good condition.
The copper part definitely had a silver bath and over time has worn down, revealing the copper again, although in some areas, especially on the handles, it has remained. I don't like shiny objects, so I left them with the original patina; whoever buys them will decide whether to have them cleaned.
Due to their linearity, they style their spaces with either classic or modern furnishings.
When an object is beautiful, you find the place easily.
One of the two has the internal screw that needs to be tightened.
I used them between a watch with two small candles and also electric lamps with lampshades, turning them into two abat-jour.
For shipping, I use private couriers instead of postal services because it arrives faster, has double packaging, and makes communication easier.
Please note that the package will be bulky and heavy.
The customs duties are the responsibility of the buyer.
