A superb large Attic red-figure kylix related to the Tarquinia Painter. The tondo with a nude athlete with halterios ( ἁλτήρ) a device used by athletes in ancient Greece during training in the jump. The athlete is enclosed within a greek key band. Includes thermoluminescence certificate and Günter Puhze Certtificate with pictures from 2008.| Greek, Attic. 5th Century BC
This Greek kylix, bears an illustration of a Greek long jumper. He carries in his hands a pair of halteres, which were stone, dumbbell-like momentum tools used to gain extra distance in the long jump. The long jump was one of the five events in the ancient Greek pentathlon, featured at the Olympic Games and other Panhellenic festivals.
