AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1890. Cristallerie Legras / Montjoye in St Denis, France.

Exceptional, sublime, antique, imposing large vase 'Thionville' in blown glass with an opacified base, made from the famous 'Cobalt Blue' dyed throughout, featuring a hot-enamelled decoration of a magnificent scene, very delicately hand-painted, depicting several butterflies fluttering above the 'White Valley Lilies' in bell-shaped forms growing in wild fields.
Magnificent decor, the quintessential symbol of the Art Nouveau period, which was heavily used by the Nancy school in the 1900s.

Remarkable artisanal work of high quality, with thick enameling and subtle color nuances by this famous glassmaker from the late 19th century. This piece stands shoulder to shoulder with other great names in glassmaking from the early 20th century, such as Émile Gallé or Daum Nancy...

Beautiful height of 305mm with a very beautiful volume and a base width of 140mm.

A very rare piece, scarcely produced, featuring this superb decoration of several butterflies created with the renowned 'Bleu Colbat,' inspired by the famous blue of Sèvres registered by LEGRAS&CIE at the end of the 19th century. The series known as 'Forme Thionville' is perfectly documented and illustrated in the renowned catalog raisonné 'Legras Maître Verrier.'

In good condition for its great age (over 130 years!) with a well-preserved, thick, and fresh enameling, and vibrant colors. Just note a few minor firing flaws / air bubbles, quite common, trapped in the glass during blowing, which do not detract from the charm of this magnificent large collectible vase by Legras / Montjoye from the late 19th century. It makes it a unique and rare piece that will surely enhance your interior and inspire admiration from your guests!

Beautiful mark from the cut of the blower's cane at the clamp under the base, a sign of high-quality traditional artisanal craftsmanship.

A very beautiful collectible piece from the Art Nouveau period of the Nancy school.
Époque Daum Nancy, Gallé, Le verre Français, Schneider, Lalique...

Very neat and secure professional shipment, made to measure with tracking number and insurance. See my reviews :)
