Description from the seller

Rare copy of the original edition is exceptionally signed on the page by Sarah Moon (born in 1941). Beige textured binding with the title embossed in tone-on-tone and illustrated dust jacket. 94 full-page photographs. Foreword by Danielle Sallenave. Brown textured binding and illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition, like new.

To view the photographic series in full screen, double-click on a photograph, then you can return to the standard display at any time.

This first book by Sarah Moon gathers the works she created early in her photographic career for advertising campaigns and magazines such as Marie-Claire, Vogue, Harper's Bazar, The Sunday Times, as well as Cacharel. These dreamy and nostalgic photographs are full of poetry and, sometimes, full of surreal humor.

Immediately recognizable, her style stands out through an impressionist and dreamlike atmosphere, in which she blends her models and primarily creates using a particular material (grain, muted tones, use of blur) that gives her images a 'beginning of the century' pictorialist look. However, it was not until 1980 that she published her first truly personal work: Unlikely Memories, which set the tone.

Born in 1941, Sarah Moon left occupied France with her Jewish family for England, where she studied drawing. From 1960 to 1966, while working as a model and improvising as a fashion photographer to help her friends build their press-books, she began a brilliant collaboration with Cacharel in 1967, which lasted for thirty years: her photographic campaigns and refined advertising films inspired by the 1930s were notably awarded at Cannes in 1979. However, as early as 1968, she also worked as an independent photographer for numerous other couturiers.

Book from my personal collection in excellent condition, like new, kept with the utmost care. Shipping is very effectively protected, with guaranteed international tracked shipping. In case of multiple purchases, combined shipping is possible, with reimbursement of any excess postal fees paid via Paypal.
