Art Nouveau Bohemian crystal centrepiece signed Moser Karlsbad, violet amethyst glass with hand-painted gold decoration, dimensions 24.5 cm long, 9 cm wide, 7.7 cm high, suitable as a centrepiece, bowl or planter.
Description from the seller
Magnificent antique oblong-shaped centerpiece, which can be used as a bowl or planter in blown Bohemian crystal, signed 'Moser Karlsbad,' a renowned Bohemian manufacturer famous for the quality of its crystals.
This work is distinguished by its beautiful amethyst purple hue, typical of productions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as by its hand-painted decoration.
The glass is tinted a deep violet, adorned with a rich decoration painted in fine gold. The piece features, in the upper part, a continuous frieze composed of stylized motifs in scrolls, evenly spaced, delicately highlighting the edge line. In the center, a wide gold band, applied around the entire circumference, is decorated with a neoclassical pattern blending Greek key motifs, rosettes, and arabesques, adding a touch of opulence and refinement.
The lower part is rhythmically adorned with a series of hanging gold motifs, reminiscent of palmettes or stylized botanical pendants, which add lightness and movement to the overall design. The contrast between the dark purple of the glass and the shine of the gold particularly highlights the delicacy of the decorative work, typical of the luxurious productions of 'Moser Karlsbad'.
This very old work of art is characteristic of decorative pieces from the Art Nouveau period (circa 1890–1910) and is also very rare on the market.

La Cristallerie Moser is a manufacturer of high-quality luxury glass based in Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary), Czech Republic, in Bohemia.
The company is renowned for its delicate stemware, decorative glassware items (such as vases, ashtrays, candlesticks), luxury glass gifts, and various art engravings. It is for its quality that Moser is one of the most collected decorative glasses of the 20th century. They have been used everywhere, from palaces to local restaurants.
The original company of Ludwig Moser & Söhne, founded in 1857 by Ludwig Moser (1833-1916) in Karlsbad, is a glassworks workshop, initially polishing and engraving glass and later designing and creating objects in colorless and decorated glass of the highest quality.
The engraving of raw glasses by Loetz, Meyr's Neffe, and Harrachov was carried out by the workshop at the very beginning. During the 1873 Vienna International Exhibition, it received a medal. Ludwig took over a glass manufacturing company in Meierhofen near Karlsbad in 1893 to offer a complete glassmaking service employing 400 people, under the name Karlsbaderglasindustrie Gesellschaft Ludwig Moser & Söhne, where his sons Gustav and also work.
