Confident and friend (?) of Anne of Austria, he succeeded Richelieu, the chief minister of state of Louis XIII, and later of the regent Anne of Austria and Louis XIV.
Signed handwritten letter to Jean-Baptiste Colbert

Dated from Bergues on July 23, 1658. 3 pages in 12°.
On joint 1 engraved portrait.
It was under Le Tellier's shadow, and especially that of Mazarin, that Colbert made his rise. A man of trust for the cardinal since 1651, he became his private steward in October 1653, and gradually gained Louis XIV's trust in this role.
End of the Franco-Spanish war.
Letter written after the successes of the Battle of the Dunes and the sieges of Bergues, Furnes, Dixmude, and during the siege of Gravelines.
I have sent you two packages with several letters for various people without writing to you, and the last one I gave this morning just before leaving Calais to a gentleman of Mr. le Prince de Comty.
