Description from the seller
The Mrakibina Cattoi trilobite is a species dating back to the Middle Devonian period, discovered in Morocco. It belongs to the order Phacopida and the subfamily Asteropyginae. This trilobite is distinguished by features such as a diamond-shaped frontal lobe on the cephalon, curved axial furrows, a narrow palpebral lobe, and a genal spine longer than the glabella. The pygidium of the Mrakibina Cattoi is notable for its fifteen pygidial axial rings, rounded pleural bands, and a set of pygidial spines slightly longer than the pleural width.
These trilobites are sought after by collectors due to their rarity and the well-preserved condition in which they are often found. They are located in the lower Eifelian layers of Morocco, particularly from the Tabounaklouf formation near Mrakib, Morocco. The typical length of these trilobites is about 4-5.5 cm, making them small yet fascinating specimens for collectors.
These trilobites offer a glimpse into the ancient world and add value for fossil enthusiasts and collectors, providing a tangible piece of history from a specific geological era.
