Description from the seller
This fascinating specimen comes from the Huanzala Mine, in the Huallanca district (Ancash region, Peru), one of the most prolific deposits in the world for the aesthetic quality of pyrite crystals.
The piece features a dark, porous matrix composed of a combination of secondary limonite, altered galena residues, and oxidized clay minerals, creating a striking visual contrast with the metallic luster of pyrite.
The pyrite crystals emerge with well-defined shapes and intense golden reflections. Two predominant types are observed:
Pyramidal and octahedral crystals with glossy and sharp facets, rare and particularly appreciated by collectors for their angular geometry and almost sculptural appearance.
Microcrystalline, composed of tiny sparkling aggregates that cover portions of the matrix, creating a uniform sparkling effect.
The alternation between reflective surfaces and granular textures gives the sample a strong three-dimensionality, enhanced by the modern support made of steel with a wooden base, ideal for display.
A specimen that combines aesthetic beauty and mineralogical interest, representative of the quality of minerals from Huanzala.
