Larimar, also known as the 'Caribbean stone,' is a rare and stunning gemstone found exclusively in the Dominican Republic. Its history dates back to 1916, when a Spanish priest and geologist discovered clues of this stone in a remote region. However, it was only in the 1970s that larimar was officially discovered and marketed by a local artisan, Miguel Méndez. Fascinated by its sky-blue color, Méndez named larimar by combining his daughter Larissa's name with 'mar,' which means sea in Spanish. Since then, larimar has become a sought-after stone worldwide for its beauty and spiritual properties, often associated with peace, healing, and communication.
