Description from the seller
"Antique Bohemian Harrach/Moser type" enameled art glass vase
This magnificent, tall vase is a stellar example of antique Bohemian craftsmanship from around the turn of the century.
Standing at 35 cm and weighing a substantial 1000g, it commands a distinguished presence in any setting. The body is formed from smooth opaline glass, possessing the desirable frosty or satin finish characteristic of fine European glassware of the era.
Its exquisite decoration is executed entirely by hand in rich polychrome enamel. The focal point is a romantic spray of lush pink roses and verdant leaves, rendered with delicate, lifelike brushstrokes. This floral motif captures the romantic sensibility and naturalism favored during the transition from the Victorian to the Art Nouveau period.
Contrasting the softness of the flowers is a striking border of bold, royal blue diamond shapes, known as lozenges. These jewel-like forms are beautifully framed by intricate white enamel scrollwork and scattered accents of yellow and garnet-red dots. The interplay between the organic floral design and the precise geometric patterning creates a truly captivating visual harmony.
Pieces of this substantial size and in such fine, well-preserved condition are increasingly scarce in the current market. It serves as a beautiful decorative accent and a noteworthy piece of historical glass artistry for a discerning collector.
In good vintage condition, no cracks or restorations. Inspection shows two chips at the top rim, as shown in the pictures. One at the inner rim, the second on the outer rim. This wear is commensurate with age and doesn't detract from its decorative value. The gilding is excellently preserved.
This valuable piece will be securely packaged and shipped insured to the successful participant in the bidding process.
