This is a magnificent Renaissance silver ring, dating from the mid 16th to early 17th century, with image of Jesus and inscription ”INRI”, meaning IESVS·NAZARENVS·REX·IVDÆORVM: “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews,” emphasizing the importance of faith and devotion. Also a band with inscription IESUS NAZAREN REX IV. Such a ring was designed to be worn especially by bishops, abbots, and priests.

Material: silver
Date: Late Renaissance, mid 16th – early 17th century AD
Measurement: overall: 18 x 17 mm, ringsize: 16 mm (5,5 USA)
Condition: Extremely fine condition

International registered Delivery.

Provenance: The Supplier warrants that it has obtained this lot in a legal manner.
From a private Dutch collection collected since 1990's; acquired on the European art market in the 90's.
