AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very large Art Nouveau vase inspired by nature.

The pottery of Embrechts-Genouw was located along Keibergstraat. Previously, it was a brickworks operated by Charles Vanthournout, which was taken over in 1924 by the Antwerp native Embrechts and his brother-in-law, Henri Genouw from Torhout. The architect and former designer at Maes pottery, Thierry Nolf, can also be linked to this company. He bought out his share after Embrechts' departure in 1926. Several key workers were recruited from Maes, mainly responsible for the production of jugs and vases, although several decorative tiles from the company are also known. In 1929, the pottery business came to an end, and the buildings were sold the following year and converted into an agricultural enterprise.
