Fireplace accessory - Wrought iron

A fascinating 19th-century hearth tool forged in wrought iron. Its structure consists of a long vertical rod equipped with a series of sawtooth teeth and a movable horizontal L-shaped arm ending in a flat base. Used in traditional kitchens, the mechanism allowed precise regulation of the height of pots, bowls, or skewers over the fire, thus controlling the heat intensity for cooking. The upper hook allowed it to be attached.
