Description from the seller
Beautiful Märklin 3151 – electric locomotive in its original packaging
This Märklin 3151 is in very good condition. The locomotive has recently undergone maintenance and runs like a charm. A beautiful and reliable model that makes a wonderful addition to any Märklin collection.
The SBB Ae 3/6 II was ordered in May 1921 by the Swiss Federal Railways from the manufacturers SLM and MFO. A total of 13 locomotives of this type were built, based on the prototype of the Be 3/5, and designed for use as express train locomotives.
The first locomotive, 10401, was put into service in January 1923 and extensively tested. The remaining units followed shortly thereafter. In 1924, the SBB placed another order, this time for 47 additional locomotives, which entered service between 1924 and the summer of 1926.
De Ae 3/6 II had a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The locomotives were originally brown but were later repainted in the well-known SBB green. The fleet numbers ranged from 10401 to 10460. Between 1965 and 1977, the locomotives were retired.
