A censer (in Latin Turibulum or Thuribulum) is a container in which incense is burned.

It usually consists of a bowl with a lid. Three chains are attached to the bowl, allowing the incense burner to be carried around during the religious ceremony or hung on the stand. A fourth chain is attached to the lid. This chain allows the lid to be lifted for refilling the incense, placing the incense granules on the glowing embers.

The altar server who carries the censer is the thuriferarius, thuriferar, or incense bearer.
