Description from the seller
Max JACOB - signed autograph letter - Death of Picasso - Apollinaire - 1924
Max Jacob, born on July 12, 1876, in Quimper, and died on March 5, 1944, in Drancy, was a French poet, painter, and writer. A major figure of the surrealist movement, he is known for works such as 'Le Cornet à dés.' A friend of Picasso, he played a key role in the artistic avant-garde of the early 20th century.
This letter to Charles Albert Cingria discusses Georges Limbour, the death of Apollinaire, and the tumultuous friendship between Jacob and Picasso.

My good Charles Albert
I am interested in this movement of church unity. I hear that a cardinal from the British Isles is interested in it and that the Anglican churches tend to modify their liturgy towards the true one.
Which one? Pierre Weber asked Arthur Meyer, who had assigned him a column in Le Gaulois, instructing him not to touch on religion.
The director of the newspaper Le Gaulois said that the majority of readers had responded peacefully.
One should not believe here as they do there that this movement is very recent; Butler's book on the harms of the priesthood is almost entirely based on this connection. It dates from 1860.
I am a little upset about your precarious financial situation — just a little, because I like that your life is made up of financial highs and lows; it suits the idea, which I think is quite beautiful, that I have built myself around you. I love your life and I love the idea I have of it. I know of nothing more luxurious and more gentlemanly than not to monetize the gifts we have received from God and to keep them for friends and for oneself.
I love you and admire you. You are to Limbour what I admire most, since the death of Apollinaire and perhaps Picasso's. I write to my lord Smirnoff with tenderness and send you my kisses.
Max
PS: I never see the children again.
