Greek Lecythes with black figures.
Attic black-figure lecythus. Piriform body with a flat shoulder, funnel-shaped neck, and arched handle.
A beautiful depiction of a chariot drawn by three horses, led by two women, with a character at the front holding the reins.
Attributed to the Haimon group.
Haimon's Painter is one of the last Athenian ceramicists to have used the black-figure technique. By that time, it had already been supplanted by the red-figure style. He was a contemporary of the Painters of Sappho and Diosphos.
Greater Greece, 5th century BC - Height 19.3 cm - Diameter 4.7 cm.
Very good condition - decoration well preserved - light restoration at the neck and handle.
Provenance: France, Study by B.F.T.
Previously: former French private collection.
