Antorff, a copper engraving by D. Meisner from Thesaurus philopoliticus or Politisches Schatzkästlein, depicting Antwerp, Belgium; uncoloured map, 14.3 cm wide by 9.7 cm high, circa 1625, in reasonably good condition with full margins and blank verso.

View of Antwerp, published in Danel Meisner, 'Thesaurus philopoliticus or Political Treasure Chest', Frankfurt, Eberhard Kieser, 1623-1631.
Title above: 'Absit superbia ... affluentia est/ Antorff'. From a series of 830 engraved prints with allegorical cityscapes, published between 1623 and 1632 in Frankfurt am Main by Daniel Meisner and Eberhard Kieser. About eighty of these prints depict Dutch and Belgian cities. Each print features a motto or saying at the top, with a two-line verse in Latin and a four-line verse in German, both at the bottom. In the foreground, there are usually emblems, symbolic images. For several cities in the Netherlands, the prints were based on Lodovico Guicciardini's Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi.
Very reasonable condition, a full sheet measuring 13.4x18 cm with complete margins, uncolored, blank reverse; some traces of moisture.
