Nightstand (2) - Walnut, Marmo Portoro Gold - 19th century

A stunning and important pair of antique wooden bedside tables with marble tops, dating back to the second half of the 19th century. Crafted from richly carved solid walnut, the tops are in Nero Portoro marble, or "Portoro Gold," one of the world's most prized marbles. Characterized by a deep, lustrous black that can feel almost velvety to the touch, it features spectacular golden yellow veins and streaks, sometimes interspersed with white spots, creating a striking contrast. It comes from quarries located in the Gulf of Poets, near Portovenere, Liguria, Italy, and has been considered a luxury and prestigious material since ancient times. The design features elaborate carvings and engravings of floral motifs and scrolls on the legs and sides, characteristics reminiscent of the Renaissance/Louis Philippe style. Each bedside table has a drawer at the top with typical dovetail joints and an open shelf below, with masterfully curved and turned legs. The bedside tables are completely original and are in excellent condition, polished and cared for with a non-invasive conservative restoration, unique pieces of great value.

Given their size and weight (22 kg each), the bedside tables will be shipped in a single order but with two separate packages, to ensure they take up less space and are easier to lift and move, and consequently with a lower risk of breakage.
