I was charged 25 euros for a shipment that cost the sender 6.77 euros. The pen was only protected by a bubble envelope, which is insufficient for such a fragile object.

This occurs when one user's bid is exactly the same as an automatic (maximum) bid placed by another user earlier. Since the auto-bid was placed first, this takes preference. The bidding history will show both bids, with the auto-bid ranked as the higher of the two.
