The meteorite arrived in perfect condition.
However, I have serious doubts about several photos supposedly taken on-site published on Catawiki. I don't recognize the meteorite. Misuse of AI ?

Has it developed rust after long-distance shipping?
Altai iron meteorites possess a natural property: water droplets will condense on their surface when exposed to temperature fluctuations, which consequently leads to rust formation.
The origin of this meteorite is the Altai Desert in China, where extremely low air humidity allows the meteorite to be well-preserved naturally.
If your country has high ambient humidity, you must take proper anti-rust precautions to protect it.

Toch wat teleurstellend, er zat relatief veel roest op de meteoriet zowel op de buitenkant als op het snijvlak. Waardoor het widmanstätter patroon minder goed zichtbaar is.

You may restore its original appearance by following the steps below:
 
1. Gently sand the rusted areas with sandpaper;

2. Etch the surface with nitric acid to bring out its sharp, distinctive Widmanstätten pattern;

3. Finish by applying an anti-rust coating to stop further oxidation.

The knife is beautiful and looks exactly as in the photos. It was safely packaged and quickly dispatched. Thank you!
