Angelus Sentry 8 Days Alarm – Exceptionally Rare Mechanical Desk / Travel Clock with Thermometer and Barometer – Original Leather Case – ca. 1945–1955 From my collection to another collection! Exceptionally rare Angelus Sentry 8 Days Alarm mechanical desk / travel clock from the brand’s golden era, featuring a built-in thermometer and barometer (weather module), housed in its original leather-covered carrying case. The mechanical, hand-wound movement with 8-day power reserve operates perfectly and runs smoothly. Both the thermometer and the barometer function flawlessly. The alarm function, however, does not activate reliably in every case at the set time. The mechanism engages, but the hammer likely does not consistently reach the bell properly; therefore, alarm operation is not guaranteed. The barometer is of aneroid construction, with an adjustable reference hand located at the center of the dial. This is set via the small external knob positioned above the glass (a small knurled / tab-like adjustment at the arbor). The factory service opening on the back is strictly for maintenance and servicing purposes; it has no functional role in daily use and is not a user control. The barometer dial is flawless, clean, and clearly legible. English-language barometer scale: STORMY – RAIN – CHANGE – FAIR – VERY DRY. The clock dial is in very nice condition, with applied gold-tone indexes and gold-tone hands. A barely visible, fine dotted patina can be observed, which is natural and age-consistent. The clock is fitted with an excellent, scratch-free original glass, while the barometer’s original plexiglass shows only one or two very minor, barely noticeable hairline marks. The plexiglass cover used on the barometer is fully period-correct and technically justified: due to its lower mass and flexibility, it protects the sensitive aneroid diaphragm measuring mechanism and contributes to stable and accurate operation. The thermometer features a dual scale (°C / °F). Original leather-covered outer case, with the leather remaining in nice, even condition for its age. It shows natural and aesthetically pleasing aging, with minimal wear at the edges and slightly more visible wear near the left hinge area when viewed from the front. The gilded inner clock case is overall in good condition for its age, with minor localized wear marks. The gilded inner case fits precisely into the outer leather-covered case — no protrusion, no fitting or securing issues. The outer case features an engraved presentation metal plaque. Place of manufacture: Switzerland Production period: approx. 1945–1955 Dimensions: • Outer case: 147 mm wide × 27 mm high × 100 mm deep • Inner case: 136 mm wide × 58 mm high × 20 mm deep A rare, complete, and functioning Angelus Sentry desk clock from the 1940s–1950s, with original leather case, perfectly working factory mechanical movement, thermometer, and barometer. A true collector’s piece. The photographs form an integral part of the description and accurately reflect the condition of the clock.
