Bang & Olufsen - U-70 Auricular

Vintage Bang & Olufsen futuristic U70 headphones in original box - 1978 to 1984. They have new clean ear pads. These are the iconic headphones released by Bang & Olufsen. Designed by Jacob Jensen in the late 1970s. They were available between 1978 and 1984. A model like this was on display at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York. A nice collector's item for the collector of iconic models or a Bang & Olufsen fan. These headphones are in very good condition and produce near-perfect sound. Far better than most of it competitors. Only the box shows signs of wear. Box dimensions: height: 8 cm, width: 23 cm, total weight: 600 grams. Headphone weight: 300 grams, frequency: 16-20,000 Hz. DESCRIPTION These were Bang & Olufsen’s first headphones and were of the semi-open type which allowed some intrusion of background noise so one was not completely oblivious to the outside world. They were described as being orthodynamic in principle which essentially meant they used a single point to drive a membrane. In other words they had a standard coil driven speaker as opposed to an electrostatic plate. Nonetheless, the headphones looked sleek and were comfortable to wear. The pads were covered with a type of leatherette which disintegrated with age though this had no effect on sound quality. They were presented in later years in a rather splendid box with a drawing clearly inspired by Leonardo da Vinci but featuring the U 70! These were a popular addition to the range and were the most substantial of all B&O headphones. Carefully shipped Head not included
