A BIRTHDAY WATCH IS A WATCH THAT WAS PRODUCED THE SAME MONTH AND YEAR AS YOUR BIRTH MONTH AND YEAR Make: Seiko Type: Mechanical Model: Liner Year of Production: January 1967 Movement: 3140 BPH: 18,000 Number of Jewels: 23 Hand and Dial: 3D White Gold Baton Indices with Dauphine Hands Width: 35.7mm Height: 42mm Thickness: 9.0mm Lug Width: 19mm Strap: Brand-New Hi-Quality Genuine Leather Strap with Silver Buckle Pouch / Box: Brand-New EVA Type Zipper Pouch According to most reliable online sources, Seiko introduced the "Liner" 620/3140 21J manual winding timepiece in 1960, but it had used various movement iterations. The Liner was quickly followed by the Seiko Skyliner utilising the 402/6220 in 1961. This was quickly followed by the Skyliner Calendar 956/6222 apparently within the same year; Hence, according to the records, the 3140 Liner was only produced for a short period before being succeeded by 956/6220. The 3140 movement will bring forth the famous Seiko Lord Marvel in 1968 and is a JDM model. However, this particular watch was produced in January 1967; so, it was produced after the introduction of the Skyliner, Skyliner Calendar, and Lord Marvel; thereby Collectible status assured. For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is an extremely rare January 1967 Seiko Liner 3140 23J Mechanical Dress Watch. It's original silvery sunburst dial, 3D white gold-filled baton indices, dauphine hands and case are in near mint condition after a thorough clean-up. The crystal was polished to near perfection. Patina is obvious throughout the dial especially between the 12H and 3H location. The crown is located at its traditional 3H position. The time quickset works as it should by uncorking the crown for adjustment. The 3140 movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 28 May 2025. In short, it underwent a complete servicing and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind. Equipped with the 3140 movement, it operates at 18,000 BHP and has 23 jewels. The time-grapher shows superb readings of 0 seconds and amplitude of 192 with straight centered lines! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking calibration conducted. The case width (w/o crown) and height are approx. 35.5m and 43mm respectively. The lug width is 19mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, suitable for men and the modern women. To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts. Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though the seals and gaskets are in place. The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead. Seldom can one find a Seiko Liner 23J vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well kept, maintained and calibrated as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. Hence, this watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in January 1967, and its value will appreciate over time. This is an extremely rare 23J Seiko Liner Cal 3140 in excellent condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
